Heather was frustrated when she didn't learn to read on her first day of kindergarten. A precociousness expressed at 5 turned into a mastery of words and language as she navigated her way through newspaper reporting, editing and copyediting jobs. When asked to pick her favorite word, Heather responds, "That's like asking someone to choose their favorite child!" Yeah, she fits right in here.

• Knitted a pillow of Johnny Cash's face, which then sold at her friend's art gallery for $180
• Taught herself to type in second grade with books her mom borrowed from the local high school
